Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature: South Asian Cinema
The Cinema Studies Program and the Department of Comparative Literature at the University of Washington invite applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in the area of South Asian Film, beginning in September 2008. Applicants must complete the Ph.D. in Cinema Studies or a related field by date of appointment. Preferred candidates will demonstrate the capacity to offer survey courses in film history, theory and genre, as well as courses in the cultural and aesthetic histories of one or more South Asian cinema traditions. They will also demonstrate an interest in cross-cultural comparisons, as well as in teaching a large lecture class. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
