Vice Provost for Global Affairs
Position Description
The University of Washington is one of the nation's premier universities, with a global reputation for excellence. All schools, colleges and campuses of the University have global programs with exciting opportunities for cross-disciplinary synergies in global education, research and service. The Vice Provost for Global Affairs plays a key role in coordinating the University’s efforts to globalize research, scholarship, education, and engagement.
The Office of Global Affairs was established in 2005 to plan strategically to meet the challenges and opportunities of globalization of research, scholarship, education, and community engagement in the 21st century and beyond.
The Vice Provost for Global Affairs reports directly to the Provost/Executive Vice President, and will join a highly collaborative executive leadership team that advises the President, the Provost/Executive Vice President, and the Board of Regents in determining institutional priorities, goals, policies, and programs for the University. As with most Vice Provosts, this position will have a partial administrative appointment in the Provost’s Office to allow maintenance of some academic activities in the individual’s home department.
We envision a “centralized-decentralized” organizational model, where, in partnership with administrative units in the colleges, schools, and campuses, the Vice Provost for Global Affairs oversees, coordinates and leverages our existing strengths and develops new global relationships.
