Medieval Europe. The Department of History at the University of Washington invites applications for the Costigan Visiting Lectureship, a one-year position in high or late medieval European history to be filled at the rank of Acting Assistant Professor. Applications are welcome from specialists in any field of western European history post 1000. The successful candidate will be expected to teach one quarter of a large entry-level survey in Western Civilization (medieval to 17th century), the final segment of a three-quarter upper-division survey in medieval history (c. 1300-1500), and a senior seminar for History majors in his or her field of specialization. The Ph.D. dissertation must be completed before the position begins in September, 2008. Demonstrated excellence in teaching strongly preferred.
