Position Details


The Industrial & Systems Engineering department in the College of Engineering at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time tenured faculty position at the full Professor level starting in Fall 2010.  Outstanding candidates in all areas of Industrial & Systems Engineering will be considered, however, applicants with experience in healthcare systems engineering are encouraged to apply.  This initiative seeks to complement ISE’s current collaborations with UW Medical Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and the Department of Global Health.  Individuals will be expected to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, publish, conduct funded research, strengthen cross-disciplinary relationships, and provide service to the discipline and the University. All positions are contingent on the availability of funding.

Required qualifications:  An earned doctorate in Industrial Engineering or closely related field;
record of outstanding scholarly publications; history of research proposal development and funding; proven ability as an effective teacher; demonstrated research capability in healthcare systems, medical decision-making or bioinformatics, etc.; and strong communication skills—all appropriate to rank.
