The University of Washington Tacoma, Education Program announces an opening for a full time, tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor in Educational Administration. The position involves teaching in the program; overseeing the supervision of internships; recruitment; and maintaining relationships with schools, school districts, and external groups to assure the program is well connected to current issues of professional practice. The successful candidate must have at least five years experience in public school administration, at least three of those years as a building principal, as well as demonstrated potential for teaching excellence, the ability to conduct and publish scholarly research and an articulate research agenda. An earned doctorate in educational administration or related field is required by the first day of employment. Preference will be given to candidates who have professional experience with, and knowledge of, schooling in urban K-12 settings, and with students and educators with culturally diverse backgrounds, and who can start this position in June 2010, the beginning of a new student cohort in the program.
Applicants should consider research, teaching, and institution building as high priorities. This position teaches primarily post-baccalaureate and graduate course with the opportunity to teach undergraduate courses. University of Washington Tacoma faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
