Salary and Rank:  Assistant Professor. Salary competitive and commensurate with qualifications.


Degree Requirements:  MFA or equivalent. Extensive professional experience required.


Professional Profile:  Responsibilities include teaching graduate students in the School’s MFA Professional Acting Training Program, directing annually in the regular season, coaching professional level auditioning, and teaching undergraduate acting annually. Applicants are expected to have an ongoing professional profile as an actor and/or director. All members of the faculty participate in faculty and departmental committees, advising students, and other forms of service and duties typical of a faculty position.
We are seeking a gifted, experienced theatre professional and acting teacher whose specialties include a demonstrated mastery in movement with a preference for Suzuki Training and Viewpoints. Applicants should have the ability to effectively teach and practice core Stanislavski principles and be able to inspire and mentor original, self-generated work. Familiarity and professional experience acting and/or directing classical dramatic text, including Shakespeare, is desirable.


Institution and Department Information:  The University enrolls approximately 39,000 full-time students. The School enrolls 230 undergraduates and 60 graduates who pursue BA, MFA, and PhD degrees. Graduate areas of study include acting, directing, design, and theatre history/criticism. The School utilizes four theatres and two studio spaces and produces an average of 11 productions and 12 to 15 studio and classroom projects annually. A typical season includes an average of 9 Drama School productions, 2 Opera, and 3 laboratory productions. 


Seattle Professional Theatre:  An extremely active and committed theatre center, the Seattle area is the home of the Seattle Repertory Theatre, ACT Theater, Intiman Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Seattle Opera, On the Boards, Fifth Avenue Theater, and Seattle Children’s Theatre. There are, in addition to these professional companies, approximately 150 theatres and theatre organizations in the Puget Sound area.
