Title: Associate Professor

Position Details

The Real Estate Program of the Runstad Center for Real Estate Studies is conducting a search to fill a new faculty position at the level of either tenure track or tenured Associate Professor, depending on qualifications and relevant experience of the successful candidate. Appointment will be on a full-time, 9-month basis.

This new position will complement existing faculty teaching in the Department of Urban Design and Planning's Specialization in Real Estate track, and contribute new research initiatives at the Runstad Center. Starting in Fall 2009, the department will be enrolling graduate students in a new, interdisciplinary Master of Science in Real Estate program. The department contemplates a second, additional faculty position in a parallel search, also underway, and to be filled prior to the start of the MSRE program in Fall 2009.

To support these interdisciplinary real estate programs, we are seeking to assemble a core faculty with balanced expertise across a spectrum of professional and academic activities in real estate. We seek candidates who have strong academic and research experience, as well as candidates with experience in the industry and its best practices in one or more areas, including: market analysis, feasibility, or spatial analysis; private or public development; finance or appraisal; asset or portfolio management; law; or any combination thereof.

We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in real estate or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience; and with an understanding of and commitment to interdisciplinary real estate education, who are attracted by an opportunity to help form and develop the new MSRE program. This new faculty member will be uniquely positioned to interact with colleagues within the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, as well as those in related disciplines across the university. In addition to a strong focus on teaching real estate, this position offers expanding opportunities for research and service through the Runstad Center. Candidates should be able to conduct and use research to advance classroom understanding of real estate principles, as well as further real estate as an academically rigorous discipline.

Applications should include a cover letter outlining a candidate’s interests and career objectives for pursing this position, along with a current resume or curriculum vitae to:
