Position Details


The University of Washington, Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences, is searching for a tenure-track Assistant Professor. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.  Duties include undergraduate and graduate teaching, scholarly research, directing student research, and participating in service activities. A Ph.D. is required.  

We seek an individual whose research interests fall within one of two areas: speech science or neurogenic language disorders. Speech science is broadly defined; appropriate interest areas include acoustics, production, and perception. For a candidate in the area of neurogenics, we are particularly interested in an individual with expertise in aphasia and neurolinguistics; CCC-SLP is preferred. A strong record of research productivity and potential for external funding are prerequisites, as is evidence of teaching effectiveness. Base salary (nine-month academic year) is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience; a full range of fringe benefits is available.  Faculty responsibilities are anticipated to begin on September 16, 2008.
