Position Details
Applicants should hold a doctorate in applied mathematics, mathematics, or a related field of application, and should show outstanding promise and/or accomplishments in both research and teaching. Areas of special interest include all aspects of scientific computing and numerical analysis. However, applications from any area of applied mathematics will be considered. The successful candidate will complement the existing research expertise of the department while enhancing and broadening both its mathematical and scientific scope. Interdisciplinary research activity is especially encouraged, and interactions between applied mathematics and the physical, engineering, or life sciences are expected. Faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research and service. In exceptional circumstances, appointments at the associate or full professor level may be considered for candidates who offer extraordinary opportunities to further the University's commitments to mentoring underrepresented students in mathematics and the sciences.
