The ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) is a federal standard for measuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. The ADAAG's technical specifications address accessibility for people who use wheelchairs, as well as people with visual impairments and other disabilities.
The following are some of the issues to consider in order to ensure that your facility is accessible to users with visual impairments:
Individuals with visual impairments also benefit from having a lab environment in which few obstacles protrude into or otherwise block their paths. An obstacle-free facility also benefits wheelchair users.
