Help with Web Accessibility

If you are a UW faculty or staff member, there are various options available for receiving individual help with the accessibility of your website.

Support from the Community

The Accessibility in IT Special Interest Group (SIG) is a group of fellow UW faculty and staff who actively support one another on web accessibility issues. Most of this support takes place through the accessibleweb@u discussion list. Questions posted to the list are sometimes very basic, and sometimes challenging. Both are typically answered promptly by someone on the list, and some questions generate interesting discussions from which we all benefit. Access Hack Sessions

In 2009, the Accessibility in IT SIG is launching a series of "hack" sessions in which volunteers can receive support from the group on accessibility of their web sites. Sites that present particularly interesting accessibility challenges may be profiled on the AccessWeb U Blog, so we can all learn from each others' sites. Grant-Funded Support

Two programs at the UW have received funding from the National Science Foundation to provide web accessibility support to specific academic groups.
