At the University of Washington, our goal is to be an inclusive university. As we carry out the university’s Vision Statement we strive to ensure that all qualified individuals, including those with disabilities, can fully participate in our programs, services, and opportunities. When these are made available using information technology (IT) such as websites, software, hardware, and media, we are actively working to assure that these technologies provide benefits, rather than barriers.
The University of Washington’s long history of working to address accessible technology issues dates back to 1984. Despite over three decades of leadership in this area, new technologies continues to present new accessibility challenges, and the UW continues to actively participate in identifying, developing, promoting, and deploying solutions.
