Our goal: An inclusive university

The University of Washington (UW) values diverse experiences and perspectives and strives to fully include everyone who engages with the UW.  The UW makes its offerings accessible to faculty, students, staff and visitors with disabilities in accordance with applicable state and federal laws including, but not limited to, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act  (ADAAA). Also, in its Executive Order No. 31 the UW affirms its commitment to providing access to its programs, services, and facilities for individuals with disabilities. This commitment includes access to information technology (IT) we purchase, create, and use, such as websites, software, hardware, and media.

The University of Washington’s long history of working to address accessible technology issues dates back to 1984. Despite over three decades of leadership in this area, new technologies continue to present new accessibility challenges, and the UW continues to actively participate in identifying, developing, promoting, and deploying solutions.
