The U.S. government maintains a "one-stop" online resource called Disability.gov. Disability.gov was created in 2002 as a result of a White House Executive Order as part of the New Freedom Initiative. The Executive Order directed twenty-one federal agencies to collaborate on a "one-stop" inter-agency Web portal that would provide "quick and easy access to comprehensive information about disability programs, services, laws and benefits." It is managed by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP).
Target audiences for Disability.gov are people with disabilities, employers, service providers, advocacy groups, government agencies, and community members. Visitors to the website will find information about:
