There are many places to explore grants available for projects that serve to increase the representation of individuals with disabilities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields, including the following:

  • philanthropic organizations,
  • large private companies,
  • existing funded programs,
  • state and local government,
  • and federal programs.

There is no standard method to approach philanthropic organizations and private companies. It is important to respond appropriately to a specific organization's goals and procedures. Making a personal contact is often helpful.

The Internet provides a great deal of information about government funding opportunities. For example, the National Science Foundation (NSF) web resources include a web page called Find Funding. More information about government funding source can be found at Grants.gov, which hosts web pages called Search Grant Opportunities and Browse By Agency.
